Hatfield Cricket Club 2009 Tour
Following the huge success of this years cricket
tour to Weymouth a small tour committee has begun to organise another
for next season. The destination of which is to be Northumberland,
Morpeth to be precise. This location is approximately 20 miles from the
bright lights of Newcastle. Once again we have arranged the details of
the tour through Shire Sports & they have been able to offer us a pretty
good deal for the accommodation once again.
The tour details for 2009 are as follows:
Date: Monday 22nd June - Friday 26th June 2009
Accom: Micklewood Park - Morpeth Northumberland
http://www.micklewoodpark.com/about.html
The accommodation is located within the grounds of Longhirst Hall Hotel.
http://www.longhirstvenues.co.uk/longhirst/general/guides.html
The accommodation will consist of 3 x 6 bedded cottages, therefore we
are hoping to travel with a party of 18 to fully utilise this.
Travel: We will be travelling to our destination by
train this year as we can go direct from Stevenage to Newcastle without
having to change. We will look into the feasibility of minibuses etc for
getting around in week, but the hotel does have transport as they offer
free transfers from the train station to & from the accommodation.
Costs:
Accom: 4 night at £22.50 per person per night (B&B) =
£90
Train fares: approx £30-£40 return per person (there is a 3 month
maximum lead time on this, therefore not able to confirm until March 09)
In all I would imagine that £150 will pay for your tour next year, minus
any expense for in week travel.
Cricket:
Shire Sports will arrange 3 games for us during the week on the
following days:
Monday: 20/20 match (due to the fact that we are unable to confirm train
times)
Tuesday: 40 over match 2pm start
Thursday:40 over match 2pm start
I have stressed that we would expect the games to be more competitive
that they were this year.
Again this will leave Wednesday as a day of leisure, I'm sure that we
will find something to do once more bearing in mind that the hotel
boasts tennis courts, football pitches & golf, we should be fine.
To secure this offer we will each need to put down a deposit of £40 per
person by Monday 17th November. I realise that this is not ideal as
Christmas approaches, but it does enable us to secure these reasonable
prices.
Can you either contact Steve Brame, Terry Brame, or myself with your
deposits before the 17th November 2008
Further correspondence will be sent out in due course informing you of
further payment/balance details & itinerary for the tour for next year.
Book early to avoid disappointment.
Cheers
Richard Hazeldene
